Decision on co-financing

The 5th meeting of the Board of the Fund took place in Warsaw from May 19th till 20th.
The Board of Polish-Norwegian Research Fund resolved that the following projects will be co-financed from the Polish-Norwegian Research Fund:

Activity 1 Research Projects
scientific area: Protection of the Environment

1. Development of nanostructured microreactor-based reaction technologies for the continuous in situ production of food and drug intermediates from renewable resources. Case studies of synthesis of gluconic acid and enantiopure components of natural favors (acr. TE-RENE-RES), No PNRF - 109 - A I - 1/07submitted by Silesian University of Technology/Politechnika Śląska w Gliwicach. The Amount of co-financing is 900 000 Euro.
2. Development and validation of methods for integrated assessment of ecological status of rivers and lakes to support river basin management plans, No PNRF - 220 - A I - 1/07, submitted by Instytut Ochrony Środowiska (Institute of Environmental Protection - IEP). The Amount of co-financing is 1 250 000 Euro.
3. Response of marine and terrestrial ecosystems to climate changes in Arctic – links between physical environment, biodiversity of zooplankton and seabird populations, No PNRF - 234 - A I - 1/07, submitted by Institute of Oceanology Polish Academy of Sciences. The Amount of co-financing is 1 600 000 Euro.
4. System of the environmental and spatial information as the background for the sustainable management of the Vistula Lagoon ecosystem (VISLA), No PNRF - 82 - A I - 1/07, submitted by University of Warmia and Mazury/Uniwersytet Warmińsko-Mazurski. The Amount of co-financing is 450 000 Euro.
5. Development of High-Efficiency, Small-Scale Heat Pumping Units Using an Environmentally Benign Working Fluid R744 and Expansion Work Recovery with Ejectors, No PNRF - 150 - A I - 1/07, submitted by Silesian University of Technology/Politechnika Śląska. The Amount of co-financing is 1 300 000 Euro.
6. Phytoremediation of air pollutants as a tool of humen health risk reduction, No PNRF - 193 - A I - 1/07 submitted by Warsaw University of Life Science. The Amount of co-financing is 950 000 Euro.

7. Aberrant synaptic plasticity in epilepsy, No PNRF - 96 - A I - 1/07, submitted by Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology / Instytut Biologii Doświadczalnej im. M, Nenckiego. The Amount of co-financing is 1 700 000 Euro.
8. Night shift work, melatonin metabolism and breast cancer risk factors in nurses, No PNRF - 243 - A I - 1/07, submitted by Nofer Institute of Occupational Medicine. The Amount of co-financing is 600 000 Euro.
9. The protective mechanisms against neurodegeneration: prosurvival activity of endogenous peptides, L-arginine and fatty acids as potential modulators of mitochondrial function in the stressed brain, No PNRF - 104 - A I - 1/07, submitted by Jagiellonian University, Medical College, Medical Faculty/Uniwersytet Jagielloński, Colegium Medicum, Wydział Lekarski. The Amount of co-financing is 850 000 Euro.
10. The AlkB protein and its eukaryotic homologues – the role in DNA repair and the possible role in cancer etiology and target in cancer therapy, No PNRF - 143 - A I - 1/07, submitted by Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics Polish Academy of Sciences. The Amount of co-financing is 750 000 Euro.
11. SmartEx-HF - Randomised Exercise Programs in Heart Failure, No PNRF - 245 - A I - 1/07, submitted by Śląskie Centrum Chorób Serca w Zabrzu. The Amount of co-financing is 1 600 000 Euro.
12. Impact of Nanomaterials on Human Health: Lessons from in vitro and animal models, No PNRF - 122 - A I - 1/07, submitted by Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology. The Amount of co-financing is 1 200 000 Euro.

13. Polish-Norwegian seminar and workshop on open platforms for mobile terminals, No PNRF - 178 - A II - 1/07, submitted by Politechnika Warszawska (Wydział Elektroniki i Technik Informacyjnych). The Amount of co-financing is 18 990 Euro.
14. Assessment of aquatic ecosystems Quality Using Acoustics (AQUA), No PNRF - 65 - A II - 1/07, submitted by Instytut Rybactwa Śródlądowego im. Stanisława Sakowicza. The Amount of co-financing is 20 000 Euro.
15. The social pattern of access to health care in Poland and Norway: the primary care perspective, No PNRF - 151 - A II - 1/07, submitted by Uniwersytet Medyczny w Łodzi, Zaklad Medycyny Rodzinnej i Medycyny Społeczności Lokalnych. The Amount of co-financing is 19 800 Euro.
16. Geology and Information Technology (GIT), No PNRF - 164 - A II - 1/07, submitted by Politechnika Śląska. The Amount of co-financing is 18 000 Euro.
17. Research seminar on the benefits of efficient multi-functional forest policy, No PNRF - 149 - A II - 1/07, submitted by Warsaw University, Faculty of Economics Sciences, Warsaw Ecological Economics Center. The Amount of co-financing is 18 000 Euro.
18. ECO-INNOVATION IN THE WASTE MANAGEMENT AREA - A CHANCE FOR REGIONAL DEVELOPEMENT, No PNRF - 199 - A II - 1/07, submitted by Institute of Mechanised Construction and Rock Mining. The Amount of co-financing is 20 000 Euro.
19. Advanced Environmental Technologies, Monitoring and Impact on Society (ENTEMO), No PNRF - 177 - A II - 1/07, submitted by Gdansk University of Technology. The Amount of co-financing is 18 000 Euro.
20. International Conference "Forest and Water", No PNRF - 163 - A II - 1/07, submitted by Forest Research Institute. The Amount of co-financing is 19 800 Euro. This project will be co-financed under a condition that a special Polish-Norwegian session will be organised by the Beneficiary during conference.
